MY JOURNEY INTO VINTAGE FASHION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
My name is Stephanie and I am the founder of Things Vintage CA. As a mom of three boys, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, vintage fashion, and making music. My passion for vintage fashion began years ago, fueled by my love for quality materials like silk, cotton, leather, wool, and cashmere.
Navigating today’s fast fashion landscape can be challenging, in terms of cost and environmental impact. I've been helping people discover meaningful style for a little over 4 years, starting in 2022 during a tough health period. I’ve faced adrenal insufficiency and sarcoidosis, and resilience now guides how I approach health, work, and life.
Before vintage, I built and sold a beeswax candle line that reached 40+ stores nationwide, learning the power of persistence, quality, and brand storytelling. In 2024, I opened a brick-and-mortar shop at the Elm Place Mall in Sudbury, Ontario. For stability, I later shifted my focus to corporate finance, yet my vintage passion remains alive.
My general interest in history has also drawn me to vintage clothing. Fashion is a response to what is happening around us. Each era gives us a glimpse to the past. For example, the 1940s, marked WWII, saw the rationing of materials, resulting in simple, fitted silhouettes for women and uniform-like suits for men. The 1970s was a vibrant era influenced by events like the Vietnam War, leading to fashion that embraced peace and fun, with trends like smock dresses and flared pants.
I’m slowly reintroducing carefully sourced stock focused on quality and longevity. You can now find us at The Relic House Market (324 Elm Street). Expect curated vintage garments and accessories with stories, plus behind-the-scenes looks, sourcing journeys, pop-ups, and new arrivals. I’m re-emerging on social media after rebuilding from a deleted page and am grateful for old friends and new followers as I blend entrepreneurship, health, and vintage fashion.
